Sybil Rampen

On a fated winter day, a 95-year-old artist living in the farmhouse she was born in became one of my greatest friends.
My family went to see Sybil Rampen’s exhibit at the Joshua Farm Gallery in March of 2025, and we had the privilege of meeting her. I wanted to pick her brain about her inventive approaches to mixed media projects, and she was more than happy to share. A quick question turned into longer conversation, then a gallery tour, then a house tour.
The second I stepped into Sybil’s home I knew what I wanted my future to look like.
Her art, her home, and her spirit are incredibly moving. She has such immense love for life and its many wonders, and her home is a reflection of that. At a time when I was losing sight of why I pursued photography, I befriended the personification of artistic passion.

These images are dedicated to my dear friend Sybil -
her art, her home, and her kindness.
